Due to our powerful obsession with memories of the Cleveland Indians being awesome, Always The Jake is celebrating the one-year anniversary of The Streak by doing a brief recap of each game. Check back each day prior to game time to see the details of the game that took place one year ago that day!

Opponent: Detroit Tigers

Location: Comerica Park

Score: 11-0

Player of the Game: Jose Ramirez (2 HR, 3 2B, 3 RBI)

Play of the Game: With one out in the top of the sixth, Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez bookend an Austin Jackson single with a pair of dingers to turn a 5-1 lead into an 8-1 blowout.

Season Record: 79-56

Streak Run Differential: +60

The Indians notched at least one run in seven out of nine innings in this game, but while the offense was as hot as ever, Ramirez stood out above the rest. The Tribe second baseman tied a major-league record with his five extra-base hits, including a pair of homers embarrassingly assisted by Detroit outfielders.

Josh Tomlin showed grit in this one, allowing just one earned run across six innings. Although he only managed to strike out two opposing hitters, his performance was more than enough to back up the club’s scorching offense. The five double plays turned by the defense behind Tomlin didn’t hurt, either.
